Gumball Stand

Gift giving can be a troublesome experience. Though the adage says, “it’s better to give than receive,” sometimes the stress behind finding the “perfect” gift can make even the most benevolent person seem careless.

If you have a special occasion coming up for a nephew or niece, a child or grandchild, or even an adult who loves collectibles, consider giving gumball machines as gifts. It’s a great conservation piece and is very creative. Here’s a few for inspiration:

Teach some responsibility or offer some fun with a gumball bank!

Old time gas pump gumball machine is a classic!

A classic- pump delicious gumballs out of the machine- it’s fun for all ages! This machine has a plastic globe which is great for clumsy kids. It stands 21″ tall and is also made by Carousel. Stick a round sticker on top and turn the machine into your favorite sports teams’ gumball station. Also keep in mind you don’t have to dispense gumballs- get creative! Put nuts, candy, dog food, and more (but not all at once!) into the machine for a conversation piece and a creative way to store treats.

I love weddings. I think they’re a blast, and it’s a great way to get to know the new couple- the music, the venue, the theme- I think it all shows a lot about their personalities.

That being said, I recently went to a wedding that was fantastic- very casual and elegant. One thing I loved about the party was the decorations and the candy buffet.

Personally, I love candy buffets. I think they’re a great, unisex way for guests to take something with them and not waste or have leftover favors if people don’t pick them up. If you have leftovers, they’re already stored for you which makes cleaning up a cinch.

Today’s blog post is a little lesson on gumballs. There are at least ten different sizes, so shopping for gumballs and a machine can be pretty confusing. Most gumball machines tell you what size to get, but if not, here’s some help figuring it all out.

Here’s a very helpful chart to explain the different gumball sizes:

The “850 count” is definitely the most common gumball out there. It’s one inch in diameter- just enough to give you a good chew and flavor without a jaw ache to follow. If you have a Carousel Gumball Bank that you got at a garage sale or a gift for your kids’ rooms, you’ll find that those machines dispense gumballs that are < .62″ in diameter- so check out the 8500 count, 5800 count, or most common, the 3650 count. You can get a “Gumball Refill jar” and the whole process is as easy as pie - or chewin’ bubble gum.
